Using PocketDOS on the allegro you can put a shortcut on the screen that will open PocketDOS and then start the specific programme. This eliminates field crews having to know DOS commands to start the software they need. You will have to edit the shortcut command line and also add a batch file to the C:drive of the allegro to start the software you are after.
STEPS 1.First create a shortcut to PocketDOS on the desktop (just copy the one from the StartMenu folder to the Desktop folders under windows),
A - Copy the file PocketDOS from the folder – PocketDos Virtual PC Environment that is in the folder – C_Drive B - Open the Windows folder and then open the Desktop folder C - Click Edit on the Menu point to Paste Shortcut and click. D - Change the name of file from PocketDOS to something that match's the software you want to auto open eg MARVL
2.Create a batch file to carry out the DOS commands like you have to type in to start the software when you start PocketDOS. So in Pocket Word create a text file which looks something like this :
c: cd mvl m.bat
(m.bat being the software i want to open in folder c:\mvl\..) and save the file as a text file called cm.bat onto the root directory of C:Drive folder on the allegro.
3.Select the properties of the shortcut and alter the command line for the shortcut so that it includes a command line to run on DOS eg.
A - Click the File on the menu of window and go to the Properties and click it. B - Click the Shortcut C - Click the Target text box, and put C:\cm.bat at the end of words. That will be like “\program files\pocketDOS\PocketDOS.exe” C:\M.BAT
So the shortcut is made and you can click it on the windows CE desktop to run the M.bat program, without having to type any command lines !
Hope this helps.
